Our Ambassador in Brussels, Mr. Carmelo Nvono-Ncá, held an important meeting with the executive of the European Commission on June 14, in order to analyze the good relations with this important institution and with a clear mutual interest in advancing in the political dialogue.
Throughout the meeting, the European Commission made it clear that the statements of the Head of European diplomacy, Federica Mogherini, reflected in the press do not convey the official political position of the Commission, but rather was a concrete response to a question asked in the course of a parliamentary assembly in the European Parliament.
On the other hand, Ambassador Nvono-Ncá clarified that the statements made on the website of our Government’s party, the PDGE, do not conform to the official position of the Equatorial Guinean Government. “Both what is expressed by the EU and by the PDGE are simply impressions, in no case official statements. I am not a politician and therefore I cannot make further evaluations in this regard ”, assured the Ambassador.
Likewise, Carmelo Nvono-Ncá took advantage of the meeting to inform the European Commission of the latest advances in our country, such as the election of Equatorial Guinea to form part of the UN Security Council in New York. Both parties made clear their intention to continue working together and to maintain the existing good relations.
