The Permanent Representative of Equatorial Guinea to the IMO in London, Carmelo Nvono-Ncá, has participated in the thirty-second International Maritime Organization’s Council, which has had to develop virtually, due to the situation global pandemic that we are going through.

The International Maritime Organization’s Council, the executive body of the institution and responsible for supervising the work of the Organization, has stressed, throughout the Council meetings, the importance of maintaining the flow of trade during the pandemic, recognizing the role of the people of sea and emphasizing the urgent need to act on the change of crew.

In this regard, the IMO Council took it upon itself to give special recognition to crews, seafarers, shore workers and personnel of the maritime community, for allowing international trade to continue, despite challenges raised by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nvono-Ncá, who took office as Permanent Representative of the IMO less than a year ago, is developing a frenzy within this important institution, aware of the importance for Equatorial Guinea of ​​the safety and protection of navigation and the maritime environment.
