Likewise, in his meeting with Francisco Millán, Carmelo Nvono-Ncá expressed his concern about maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea. The European Union is studying the possibility of implementing a project similar to the one used in the Gulf of Andén, in the waters of Somalia, to fight against maritime piracy in this area where crime continues to increase.

With this instrument, called ATALANTA, the EU managed to greatly reduce piracy in the waters off the Horn of Africa, specifically in the area of Somalia. According to Ambassador Nvono-Ncá, this instrument could be extrapolated to the waters of the Atlantic, adapting it to the geographical context of the place. Finally, the Ambassador valued very positively the involvement of the initiatives that the EU has been showing for several years.
