The Embassy of Equatorial Guinea in Brussels is pleased to report that our country enthusiastically welcomes the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) to select Equatorial Guinea as the venue for the Forum of High-Level Personalities of the OACPS, which will take place from October 25 to 27, 2023. This transcendental designation, achieved by Ambassador Nvono-Ncá, reaffirms the prominent role that the country plays internationally and represents recognition of the leadership of President H.E. Obiang Nguema within the organization.
In an important meeting held at the OACPS General Secretariat in Brussels, the Council of Ministers welcomed the initiative proposed by the Ambassador of Equatorial Guinea in Brussels, Carmelo Nvono-Ncá, who could not be present at the meeting because he attended an important meeting in the European Parliament to discuss Equatorial Guinea issues behind closed doors. On behalf of Ambassador Nvono-Ncá, the Second Secretary of the Equatorial Guinea Diplomatic Mission in Brussels, Beatriz Obama, attended, expressing the country’s gratitude for the opportunity to host this important event.
The decision to designate Equatorial Guinea as the venue for the Forum of High Personalities is the result of the vision and proactive leadership of Ambassador Nvono-Ncá, who made this proposal almost two years ago to the current Secretary General of the OACPS. The initiative sought to give greater prominence to the leadership of President H.E. Obiang Nguema within the organization and reinforce the active participation of Equatorial Guinea in regional and international affairs.
Since his appointment as Ambassador to the Belgian capital in 2011, Ambassador Nvono-Ncá has played a prominent role leading the constituency of Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Denmark, the European Union, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and, of course, the OACPS. During this time, he has worked tirelessly to strengthen diplomatic ties, promote cooperation and highlight the crucial role that Equatorial Guinea plays on the world stage.
The Forum of High-Level Personalities of the OACPS in October will be a unique opportunity for Equatorial Guinea to present its visions and perspectives on issues of regional and global interest. This event will bring together leaders, diplomats, and representatives of OACPS member countries to discuss important issues, share experiences, and strengthen collaboration in key areas, such as sustainable development, trade, security, and cultural cooperation.
The Government of Equatorial Guinea thanks the member countries of the OACPS for the trust placed in selecting their country as the venue for this relevant forum. Likewise, it reaffirms its commitment to work hand in hand with the other Member States to promote prosperity, well-being and stability in the region and beyond.
Ambassador Carmelo Nvono-Ncá, in his last moments in Brussels, is proud of having contributed to the strengthening of bilateral and multilateral ties and of having represented his country with dedication and professionalism. The designation of Equatorial Guinea as the headquarters of the Forum of High Personalities is a finishing touch for his diplomatic management in Brussels and reflects the recognition of his work and the relevance of Equatorial Guinea in the international arena.
