Belgium is currently running a campaign to be granted the status of a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2019-2020.
To this end, the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an important meeting the 15th in May in the Egmont Palace which was moderated by the Minister and Vice Prime Minister, Mr Didier Reynders. Given the extensive experience our country could share with its counterparts – Guinea Equatorial succeeded in obtaining the status of non permanent member of the supreme in charge of maintaining peace and security, the UN Security Council; Belgium decided to invite the Brussels-based Ambassador of Guinea Equatorial, Carmelo Nvono-Ncá to this important conference.
The Foreign Affairs Minister stressed during his intervention the fact that Belgium kept playing an important role on the international fora, especially on human rights matters. The Head of Diplomacy said that “we cannot promise we will solve every single existing problem in the world, but let me ensure you we will do our best to improve the situation.
