Equatorial Guinea is expected to be the host country for the next Summit of Heads of State and Government of the ACP Group. A first in the country’s history which will then be organize two summits within a remarkable frame-line. As a reminder, the ACP is the second biggest political platform after the UN, with 79 member states. Our country had already organized this high level meeting at the end of 2012 and, given the logistical and organizational challenges other countries may face, the Equatorial Guinea’s candidacy was put on the table as an option for the next edition of 2019.
The ambassador of Equatorial Guinea in Brussels, Carmelo Nvono-Ncá, met with ACP Secretary General Patrick I. Gomes. The initiative has been formally presented to the ACP Committee of Ambassadors and the final decision is expected to be taken during the next Council of Ministers, to be held from 20 to 22 May.
