The Ambassador of Equatorial Guinea in Brussels, Carmelo Nvono-Ncá, has been received in Luxembourg by the President of the Court of Justice of the EU, Koen Lenaerts. A meeting of vital importance considering that it is one of the highest instances in the field of international justice.
Koen Lenaerts, a Belgian jurist and professor of Community law at the University of Leuven, has been the current President of the Court of Justice of the EU since 2015. Throughout the meeting, the President of the Court of Justice of the EU informed Nvono-Ncá of the scope of the court’s obligations in the area of human rights. He also emphasized the need for both EU member states and non-EU member states to become aware of the importance of this fundamental value.
The Ambassador of Equatorial Guinea in Brussels took the opportunity to allude to the respect that Equatorial Guinea feels and gives for human rights, within the context of justice. “Our country is with the countries that respect human rights. We must not forget the violations that are being committed now, but also those that have been committed throughout history », he qualified in clear reference to the African continent. In addition, the Ambassador added that although Equatorial Guinea does not belong to the EU, it will always accompany this important bloc of countries in the protection and preservation of justice.
