The Ambassador of Equatorial Guinea to the European Union, Carmelo Nvono-Ncá, thanked the European press for all the interest and solidarity received in the unfortunate accident that took place in Bata on March 7.
Specifically, it has been the Portuguese News Agency (Lusa), which has developed an extensive interview on the subject with Ambassador Nvono-Ncá. It is the most important agency in the Portuguese language and provides information to numerous Portuguese newspapers, radio and television channels, as well as the media of the Portuguese communities throughout the world. For this reason, the interview was quickly broadcast by some of the main Portuguese-language media, such as Visão, Sapo, DW and RTP Noticia.
“We have never faced a catastrophe of this magnitude. The civil protection services reacted in an exemplary manner ”but“ no country is prepared to respond immediately to such an unexpected and regrettable situation ”, Nvono-Ncá assured in the interview.
“Civil protection services are prepared to respond to atypical situations, but in a normal context, which is not the case now with the pandemic,” he added. “As our head of state, Teodoro Obiang Nguema, has already reported, it was a fortuitous accident that had its origin in negligence.”
